Knowing how to save is the cornerstone of future financial success, and so primary school children in Grades 4 to 7 all over the country are being exposed to this campaign which takes its inspiration from the Zulu saying, Ligotshwa lise manzi, meaning, “best to shape a stick while it is still moist”.

The programme objectives are to teach children to save and to promote volunteerism in the financial sector. TCTS SA™ covers the basic concepts of saving:

The keynote address was delivered by the Honourable KZN MEC Finance, Ina Cronjé at a launch function programme directed by four Grade 7 learners who gave a sterling performance all in the name of committing their 67 minutes to a good cause.

TCTS SA is an annual savings programme of the banking industry and broader financial sector coordinated by The Banking Association South Africa. The objectives of TCTS SA are to inculcate a culture of saving in children and to promote volunteerism in the financial sector.
